Mr. Nephin founded Neptec Design Group Ltd. in 1990 and is the Chairman of the Board of Directors of both NDG and NTC. His career history includes Spar Aerospace Applied Systems Group as their Director of Engineering responsible for a diverse technical staff developing ruggedized electronics, sensors and software for the Defence market, and Leigh Instruments Ltd. in various roles, including Director of the Navigation Aids business unit, as well as DY4 Systems. Mr. Nephin holds a Bachelor of Applied Science (Electrical Engineering) from the University of Waterloo. He is a board member of the Canadian Foundation of the International Space University and a former board member of the Centre for Research in Earth and Space Technology, an Ontario Centre of Excellence.
Mr. LaBarge is a founding partner of LaBarge Weinstein LLP, a business law firm and one of Canada’s leading technology law firms with offices in Ottawa and Vancouver. Mr. LaBarge has a JD and LLM from Osgoode Hall Law School and a degree in Economics from McMaster University. He has been a partner in three of Canada’s largest law firms prior to establishing LaBarge Weinstein LLP as a new model-of-service for the technology sector. His experience spans across many sectors with direct participation and direction in major industrial and technology transactions in software and hardware licensing, acquisitions, and financing in areas such as imaging, word processing, telephony, and earth observation satellites. Mr. LaBarge is Vice Chairman and General Counsel of Neptec Technologies Corp. and, in that role, responsible for the strategic plan implementation and financing of Neptec Technologies Corp.
Mr. Sekerka has over 20 years of experience in commercializing innovative technologies and launching new products into various markets. He has held roles in systems engineering, product management, project management, new product introduction and manufacturing operations in both start-up companies and large corporations. Mr. Sekerka started his career as an Aerospace Engineering Officer in the Canadian Air Force and has worked for companies such as DragonWave, Innovance Networks, Nortel Networks, and Cambrian Systems (acquired by Nortel) before joining Neptec Technologies Corp. in June 2011. Mr. Sekerka holds engineering degrees in Engineering Physics from the Royal Military College of Canada and Electrical Engineering from McGill University, as well as an Executive MBA from the University of Fredericton. Mr. Sekerka is a licensed Professional Engineer and serves on the Academic Board of the University of Fredericton.
Mr. Killin brings more than 30 years of financial, management, executive and strategic advisory experience achieved with several private and public companies in various industries. Mr. Killin has been a member of the CICA Accounting Standards Board’s Task Force on Business Combinations, has served as a member (and Chairman) of Dean’s Advisory Board, Ted Rogers School of Management / Ryerson University (1998 -2013) and currently serves as the Treasurer and a board member of The Canada Trail Foundation.
With over 16 years of services at the Neptec group of companies in various vision system developments including the NASA Space Vision System for the Space Shuttle, Dr. Church offers unparalleled knowledge of Neptec’s technology and products. Since 2006, Dr. Church has mainly been involved in the development and evolution of the OPAL LiDAR scanner for vision system applications targeted at aerial and ground platforms operating in degraded visual environments. His career history includes 15 years at General Dynamics Canada in various electro-optical sensor development projects. Dr. Church holds a Ph.D. in Biomedical Physics from l’Université de Montréal, an M.Sc in Physics from l’Université de Québec, and a B.Sc in Physics from McGill University.
